Passwords that hold up

Length does more than complexity: each extra character multiplies the number of guesses needed. A random 16-character password from the password generator is far stronger than a short one full of symbols, and it is created with your browser's cryptographic random source, never sent anywhere. Use a different password for every account and let a password manager remember them.

QR codes

A QR code from the QR code generator stores its content directly — a link, some text, Wi-Fi details — so it never expires and needs no account or tracking service. Test a code before printing it: scan it with the QR code scanner or read a saved image with the QR code reader, and keep a quiet margin around it so cameras can find its edges.

Colour and contrast

For text to be readable, WCAG asks for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. The contrast checker measures any pair of colours; the colour converter moves between HEX, RGB, and HSL, and the tint and shade generators build lighter and darker steps of a brand colour.

Checking your devices

Before a call or an interview, the webcam test, microphone test, and keyboard tester show whether each device works in the browser. If a camera or microphone is missing, the usual cause is a permission the browser or the operating system has refused, or another app holding the device.
