Magnifier: Use Your Phone's Camera as a Magnifying Glass

Turn your phone or tablet camera into a magnifying glass for small print, labels, and medicine leaflets: zoom in with the camera's own zoom when available, freeze the picture to read it steadily, switch to high contrast, white on black, or a yellow tint, turn on the light, and save a picture.

Magnifier: Use Your Phone's Camera as a Magnifying Glass: The rear camera's own zoom is used when the browser offers it, which keeps the picture sharp; otherwise the image is enlarged on screen up to eight times. Freeze pauses the picture so hand shake does not matter, and the colour views raise contrast for low vision. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Runs entirely in your browser

Point your phone's back camera at small print, then zoom in.

Uses the camera's own zoom when the phone offers it, which is sharper, and otherwise enlarges the picture on screen. Freeze holds the view still so you can read it without shaking. The camera feed stays on your device; nothing is recorded or uploaded unless you save a picture.

Accessibility

Phones also have built-in magnifiers, such as Magnifier on iPhone and Magnification on Android, which work in every app.

Reading on screen

To make text on a screen easier to read, try the dyslexia-friendly reader.

How to use it

  1. Press Start the camera and allow camera access.
  2. Point at the text and zoom in.
  3. Freeze the view, change the colours, or save a picture.

Privacy & limitations

Frequently asked questions

Why is there no light button?

Only some phones let browsers control the torch, mostly Android with Chrome; on others, use your phone's own torch.

Why is the zoomed picture blurry?

Hold the phone a little further away and let it focus, or use Freeze; digital zoom on phones without camera zoom enlarges pixels.

Does it work on a laptop?

Yes, with the webcam, but the front camera is usually low-resolution and cannot focus close up.
