WhatsApp Link Generator
Make a wa.me link that opens a WhatsApp chat with your number and a ready-written message, with a QR code and a button for your website. Telegram t.me links too.
WhatsApp Link Generator: WhatsApp's click-to-chat links take the form wa.me followed by the full international number, digits only, with an optional text parameter for a pre-filled message. The generator removes spaces, brackets, dashes, the + sign, and a leading 00, warns about a national number that starts with 0, and encodes the message so any characters and emoji survive. Without a number, the link lets the sender choose the chat. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Leave the number empty to make a link that lets the person choose who to send the message to.
Where to use a chat link
A click-to-chat link turns a phone number into a button: put it on a website, in an email signature, on an Instagram profile, or as a QR code on a shop window, menu, or business card. A pre-filled message saves the customer typing and tells you where they came from, for example Hi, I saw your flyer.
For a printed code that also carries contact details, see the vCard QR code generator; to track clicks from a campaign to a website, tag the link with the UTM builder.
Privacy of your number
A wa.me link contains your number in plain text, so anyone who sees the link or scans the code can read it. Use a business number if you would rather not share a personal one.
How to use it
- Enter your number in international format, with the country code.
- Add a message for people to send, if you like.
- Copy the link, download the QR code, or copy the button code for your website.
Privacy & limitations
The link and QR code are made in your browser; your number is not sent anywhere or stored.

Frequently asked questions
What number format does WhatsApp need?
The full international number, digits only: the country code followed by the number without its leading 0. A UK mobile 07700 900123 becomes 447700900123, so the link is wa.me/447700900123.
Does the person need my number saved?
No. The link opens a chat with your number whether or not they have saved it, which is why businesses put these links on websites, flyers, and social profiles.
Can I change the message later?
The message is part of the link, so a new message means a new link and a new QR code. The person can also edit the message before sending it.
Does it work for WhatsApp Business?
Yes, the same wa.me links work for WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business numbers.
