QR Code Scanner
Scan QR codes live with your camera, in the browser, and copy or open what they contain.
QR Code Scanner: TOEA reads frames from the camera and decodes them on your device, with the browser's built-in detector where there is one and a JavaScript decoder otherwise. Each code appears once as it is seen. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Runs entirely in your browser
Point the camera at a QR code; it is read the moment it is in focus. Frames are analysed on your device and never sent anywhere. Links are shown, not opened.
Codes on screens and dark backgrounds
A code shown on a monitor can fail because of glare and the stripy moiré a camera picks up from screen pixels. Lower the screen brightness, tilt the camera slightly, and step back until the code fills about half the frame.
Light codes on dark backgrounds are harder for the live scanner, particularly in browsers without a built-in detector. Take a screenshot or photo instead and open it in the QR code reader, which tries both normal and inverted colors.
Codes in public places
Fraudsters paste their own codes over real ones on parking meters, charging points, and restaurant tables to send people to fake payment pages. Before opening a link, read its domain: it should belong to the operator named on the sign, not a lookalike or an unrelated site. Short links hide the destination, and the redirect checker shows where one leads without visiting it in your browser. Never enter card details on a page reached only through a sticker.
How to use it
- Start scanning and allow the browser to use the camera.
- Point the camera at the code.
- Copy the text or open the link from the list.

Frequently asked questions
Nothing is detected.
Fill more of the picture with the code, hold still, and make sure it is in focus; phone cameras focus better at arm's length than up close. Glare on a glossy print also defeats decoding.
Which camera is used?
The rear camera on a phone and the default camera on a laptop. Pick another from the list once the first one has started.
Can it scan from an image instead?
Use the QR Code Reader for a saved picture or screenshot; this tool is for codes in front of you.
Is the torch option available on my device?
Only where the camera reports a torch, which is most phones in Chrome. Laptops have none.
