Tally Counter

Count anything with a big tap button: several counters side by side, a goal for each, keyboard shortcuts, and counts that stay in your browser.

Tally Counter: Each counter adds the chosen step with every tap and shows how many are left to its goal. Several counters can run side by side, with a total across them, and the keyboard works on whichever counter was used last. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Keys: Space or ↑ adds, ↓ takes away, 1–9 picks a counter. Counts are kept in this browser.

Counting without losing your place

Every tap is saved in the browser at once, so closing the tab, a phone going to sleep, or a reload does not lose the count. Reset asks first once a count is under way, so a stray tap cannot wipe it.

Several counters suit counting categories at the same time, such as people coming in and going out, cars and bikes, or stitches and rows. Name each one, and the total across them appears beneath.

Goals and steps

A goal turns the counter into a countdown of how many are left, and the card is highlighted when it is reached, for laps, reps, or rows of knitting. A step of 2, 5, or 10 counts in groups, for example pairs or packs.

To time what you are counting, open the stopwatch or the online timer alongside it.

How to use it

  1. Tap the big number to add one, or press Space or the up arrow.
  2. Name the counter, set a goal, or add more counters for different things.
  3. Take one away with the minus button or the down arrow; counts are saved as you go.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose the count if I close the page?

No. Every change is saved in this browser, so the counts are still there when you come back, until you reset them or clear the browser's site data.

Can I count with the keyboard?

Yes. Space, the up arrow, or + adds; the down arrow or − takes away; the numbers 1 to 9 choose which counter the keys affect.

Can I count several things at once?

Yes. Add up to nine counters, name each one, for example for people coming in and going out, and see the total.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. The tap area is large, and on phones that support it each tap gives a short vibration so you can count without looking.
