Click Speed Test (CPS)

Count how many times you can click in 1, 5, 10, 30, or 60 seconds, in clicks per second, with your best score for each length kept in your browser.

Click Speed Test (CPS): The test takes the time of every click from the browser's high-resolution clock and counts the clicks inside the window, which opens with your first click. Clicks per second is that count divided by the full length of the test. It works with a mouse, a trackpad, or a touchscreen. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

How the clicks are timed

Every press is stamped with the time the browser received it, from the same high-resolution clock that pages use for animation, rather than the time the page next draws. The window opens with the first click and closes exactly the chosen number of seconds later; presses after that are ignored, so a late flurry cannot lift the score.

Only the main mouse button counts, so a right-click by accident does nothing. On a phone or tablet each tap counts once, and the page turns off double-tap zoom on the box so fast taps are not swallowed.

Getting a fair comparison

Scores only compare fairly at the same length and on the same device. A mouse with a light, short-travel switch clicks faster than a stiff trackpad, and some mice filter out presses that follow each other too closely. If a gaming mouse lets you change that debounce time, a shorter setting can raise a fast score, at the cost of the occasional unwanted double click.

For the other half of quick hands, try the reaction time test, which measures how soon you respond rather than how often. The keyboard tester checks that every key registers.

How to use it

  1. Choose a test length.
  2. Click the box as fast as you can: the timer starts with your first click.
  3. When time is up, read your clicks per second and try to beat your best.

Privacy & limitations

Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere, and your best score for each length is kept in this browser only.

Frequently asked questions

How is CPS calculated?

The clicks inside the test window divided by its length in seconds. The first click starts the timer and counts; a click at the very end does not. Only the main mouse button counts, and on a touchscreen every tap counts.

What is a good CPS?

It depends on how you click. Ordinary clicking with one finger is far slower than the techniques gamers use, such as jitter clicking (tensing the arm so the finger vibrates on the button) or butterfly clicking (two fingers taking turns on one button). Compare a result only with others of the same length.

Why does the test length matter?

Short tests measure top speed and long tests measure stamina: almost anyone clicks faster for one second than for a minute, because the hand tires. That is why the best score is kept separately for each length.

Can the browser miss clicks?

Each press is timed when it happens, not when the page next redraws, so a busy page does not lose clicks. The mouse itself may: many mice ignore a press that comes very soon after the last one, a filter called debounce that stops a worn switch from double-clicking, and it can cap very fast techniques.
