E-steps Calibration Calculator: Extruder Steps per mm and Flow
Calibrate your 3D printer's extruder: mark the filament, extrude 100 mm, measure what is left to the mark, and get the new steps per millimetre and the M92 command; then fine-tune the flow from a single-wall test print.
E-steps Calibration Calculator: Extruder Steps per mm and Flow: New e-steps = current e-steps × requested ÷ actual length. If the printer is set to 93 steps per mm and 23 mm are left of a 120 mm mark, it extruded 97 mm instead of 100, 3% short, and the new value is 95.88. A single wall of 0.48 mm instead of 0.45 mm at 100% flow gives 93.8%. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Heat the nozzle, mark the filament 120 mm above the extruder, send M83 then G1 E100 F100, and measure from the extruder to the mark. Set the new value with M92 and save it with M500, or change it in the firmware or printer settings. Repeat until the error is under 1%.
Commands
M83 sets the extruder to relative mode, G1 E100 F100 extrudes 100 mm at 100 mm a minute, M92 E95.88 sets the new value, and M500 saves it on Marlin firmware.
Repeat
Run the test again with the new value; within 1 mm of the target is good enough.
How to use it
- Heat the nozzle and mark the filament 120 mm above the extruder.
- Extrude 100 mm and measure the distance left to the mark.
- Enter the figures and set the new e-steps with M92 and M500.

Frequently asked questions
Should I calibrate with the hotend attached?
Yes, hot and at the usual printing temperature, extruding slowly, about 100 mm a minute, so the nozzle's back pressure does not make the extruder skip.
What if my printer has no M92 or M500?
Some firmware, such as Klipper, sets the rotation distance in printer.cfg instead: new rotation distance = old × actual ÷ requested.
Which comes first, e-steps or flow?
E-steps first, once per extruder; flow then fine-tunes each filament.
