Mexico Vacation Calculator: Seniority Days and Prima Vacacional
Calculate vacation entitlement in Mexico from your admission date. See completed service years, vacation days under vacaciones dignas and proportional prima vacacional, the vacation premium.
Mexico Vacation Calculator: Seniority Days and Prima Vacacional: Counts completed service anniversaries and shows leave earned for the last completed year separately from leave accruing towards the next anniversary. The 2023 table grants 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 days for years one to five, then two more days at the start of each five-year band. Proration uses elapsed days over the actual service year, including leap years. Results are estimates for ordinary private-sector workers and exclude collective agreements, court awards, special regimes and annual tax reconciliation. Vacaciones dignas entitlement
LFT Art. 76, as reformed on 27 December 2022 and effective from 1 January 2023 (https://www.diputados.gob.mx/LeyesBiblio/pdf/LFT.pdf), establishes the seniority table. Art. 81 requires leave to be granted within six months after completing the service year.
Proration and vacation premium
LFT Arts. 79–80 (https://www.diputados.gob.mx/LeyesBiblio/pdf/LFT.pdf) provide proportional remuneration on termination and the minimum 25% prima vacacional. The accruing estimate is separate from earned leave and does not subtract days already taken. Use the finiquito calculator for a termination tax estimate.

Frequently asked questions
How many vacation days do I get?
Years one to five give 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 days. Years 6–10 give 22, 11–15 give 24 and 16–20 give 26. Each later five-year band adds two days, without a statutory maximum. The page includes the band table and continuing rule.
Why are earned and proportional days different?
Earned days belong to the last completed service year. Proportional days accrue towards the entitlement at your next anniversary and can be used for a termination-pay estimate. This is not a balance of leave already taken or paid.
How is prima vacacional calculated?
Multiply the relevant vacation days by daily salary and by the premium percentage. LFT Art. 80 requires at least 25%. The tool shows both premium on the earned annual entitlement and premium on the accruing proportional days; it does not deduct ISR here.
How are leap years and 29 February admissions handled?
The denominator is the actual length of the current anniversary-to-anniversary service year, either 365 or 366 days. A 29 February admission uses 28 February as the anniversary in non-leap years. The calculation date is excluded from elapsed days.
