Where the Markdown works
The file is a heading, the video's watch URL and caption language, and one bullet per cue whose timestamp is a link. It renders with working links in Obsidian, GitHub, most static site generators, and note apps that import Markdown. Each link opens the video at the whole second at or just before the cue, so the words start almost immediately.
To see the result before pasting it elsewhere, open it in the Markdown preview; for a web page, Markdown to HTML turns it into ready markup.
Turning cues into notes
One bullet per cue is too fine-grained to read comfortably, because a cue is a few seconds of speech. For study notes or show notes, add ## headings where topics change, join the bullets beneath each into paragraphs, and keep one timestamp link at the start of each section. The links make every claim easy to check against the video later.
How to use it
- Paste a public video URL.
- Create the Markdown transcript.
- Copy or download the linked cue list.
Privacy & limitations
The URL is sent to TOEA’s caption API and is not retained. Generated Markdown contains public YouTube links and caption text.

Frequently asked questions
Do timestamp links open at the cue?
Yes. Each timestamp uses a youtu.be link with whole start seconds.
Is the result a summary?
No. It preserves caption cues rather than rewriting or summarizing them.
