Works only when YouTube exposes a public caption track for the video.

Automatic and uploaded captions

Captions uploaded by the creator are usually accurate and punctuated. Automatic captions are generated by speech recognition: good on clear speech, weak on names, technical terms, accents, and music, often with little punctuation and no indication of who is speaking. Check any quote against the video before using it.

Working with the text

Timestamps make a transcript useful for quoting a moment precisely and for building chapters: the chapter generator turns a transcript into a set of timestamped chapters for the description. For caption files, YouTube subtitles exports SRT or VTT, and SRT to VTT converts between the two.

The words remain the speaker's. Quoting with attribution is generally fine; republishing a full transcript usually needs the creator's permission.

How to use it

  1. Paste a public YouTube video URL.
  2. Choose “Get transcript.”
  3. Switch available languages, copy the text, or download a timestamped TXT file.

Privacy & limitations

The video URL is processed by TOEA’s API and is not stored. Availability depends on YouTube, the video owner, region, and captions; use exported text in line with copyright and platform rules.
