Markdown to HTML Converter

Convert Markdown into HTML source you can paste into a page or template.

Markdown to HTML Converter: TOEA renders headings, lists, emphasis, links, and inline code to HTML, escaping the source first so nothing in the Markdown can inject markup of its own. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

What stays as plain text

Only headings, bullet lists, bold, italic, inline code, and links become HTML. Numbered lists, block quotes, fenced code blocks, images, and tables come through as ordinary paragraphs, and emphasis written with underscores stays literal, since only asterisks are recognized. Links must be full http:// or https:// addresses; relative links stay as text. If a document depends on any of these, check the output before pasting it into a page.

Lines, paragraphs, and links in the output

Every non-blank line becomes its own <p> element, so a paragraph wrapped across several lines in the source turns into several short paragraphs; join such lines first, for example with join lines and a space as the delimiter. Links are written with target="_blank" and rel="noreferrer", so they open in a new tab; remove those attributes if the site opens links in the same tab.

How to use it

  1. Paste Markdown or choose a file.
  2. Check the generated HTML.
  3. Copy or download it.

Privacy & limitations

The text is converted in your browser and never uploaded, which matters when the file is a config or an export you would rather not hand to a stranger. The input is escaped before conversion, so raw HTML written inside the Markdown is shown as text rather than passed through.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from the Markdown preview?

The preview shows the rendered result. This gives you the HTML source to paste somewhere else.

Why is my raw HTML escaped?

The input is escaped before conversion so a document cannot smuggle markup or scripts into the output. It is a deliberate safety choice, not a limitation.

Which Markdown is supported?

Headings, unordered lists, bold, italic, inline code, and links. Tables, footnotes, and reference links are not converted.

Can I get Markdown back from HTML?

Yes, with the HTML to Markdown converter, though comments and formatting will not survive the round trip.
