Image Converter: JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF

Convert browser-readable images, HEIC photos and SVG graphics into JPG, PNG, WebP or supported AVIF. Set size, quality and a JPG background colour, then download each image or a ZIP.

Image Converter: JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF: Makes a new image in your chosen format and pixel dimensions. JPG suits photos and replaces transparent areas with your background colour. PNG preserves transparency without lossy compression and suits text, diagrams and screenshots. WebP supports transparency and adjustable lossy quality, often producing smaller files than PNG for photos. AVIF appears only when your browser can save that format. Compare the resulting file sizes and previews: a higher quality setting usually makes a larger file, and enlarging an image adds pixels without recovering missing detail. The scale control preserves each image’s proportions; exact dimensions apply to the whole batch. Animated images and HEIC collections use one image. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Image formats and transparency

The PNG specification (https://www.w3.org/TR/png/) describes lossless raster images and alpha transparency. The WebP container specification (https://developers.google.com/speed/webp/docs/riff_container) describes its image and transparency features. These help explain the output choices.

Browser encoding and SVG dimensions

The HTML canvas specification (https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/canvas.html) defines image export and quality hints. Unsupported output types fall back to PNG, so the converter checks encoding support before offering WebP or AVIF. SVG sizing (https://www.w3.org/TR/SVG2/coords.html) explains intrinsic dimensions and viewBox proportions; the width control turns these into output pixels.

How to use it

  1. Choose, drop or paste one or several images.
  2. Choose the output format, scale or exact dimensions, quality and JPG background colour.
  3. Convert, check each preview and pixel size, then download individual files or the batch ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Which format should I choose?

Use JPG for photos when transparency is unnecessary, PNG for sharp text or lossless transparent graphics, and WebP for a compact image with adjustable quality and transparency. AVIF is available only if this browser can encode it. Check that the app receiving the image supports your chosen format.

Can I keep transparency and change the size?

PNG, WebP and AVIF preserve transparent pixels. JPG fills them with the chosen background colour, white by default. Set a percentage for raster images or an output width for SVG, or enter exact width and height with the aspect-ratio lock.

Can I convert several files, including HEIC and SVG?

Yes. Choose up to 30 images, each below 50 MB and totalling no more than 200 MB; SVG text is limited to 5 MB. Each converted file has its own preview, dimensions, file size and download; several results can be saved as a ZIP. HEIC uses a local decoder and SVG is rendered as an image. Other inputs depend on your browser’s decoding support.
