When you need a PNG instead

SVG stays sharp at any size and is ideal on websites, but many places accept only pixel images: social profiles and link previews, most email clients, office documents, app stores, and some favicon slots. A PNG keeps the transparency an SVG usually has.

Getting the size you want

The PNG is drawn at the size the SVG declares in its width and height attributes. For a larger, sharper result, change those two numbers in the file before converting and leave the viewBox as it is; the drawing then scales up cleanly instead of being enlarged as pixels afterwards.

Text in an SVG is drawn with the fonts installed on your computer. If the file relies on a font you do not have, the PNG uses a substitute; converting text to outlines in the design app that made the SVG avoids this. Images the SVG links to on other sites may not load, so embed them in the file.

Privacy & limitations

The file is processed locally. External SVG assets may be unavailable, and scripts are not executed in the image context.
