HEIC to PNG Converter
Open a HEIC or HEIF photo and save its decoded pixels as PNG for editing or a workflow that specifically asks for PNG.
HEIC to PNG Converter: Decodes the first available image directly to PNG without an intermediate JPG. PNG avoids adding JPEG compression, but it does not recover detail that was already lost in the source photo. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Browser-readable images, SVG and HEIC/HEIF · up to 30 files, 50 MB each and 200 MB total; SVG text up to 5 MB. Animated images and HEIC collections use one image.
Local HEIC decoding
HEIC decoding uses the site's bundled heic2any decoder, which supports browser conversion to PNG and JPEG. Project documentation: https://alexcorvi.github.io/heic2any/ . A multi-image file is reduced to its first decoded image.
PNG output
PNG supports lossless raster storage and an optional alpha channel. Converting to PNG does not create transparency or recover missing source detail. W3C specification: https://www.w3.org/TR/png-3/ .
How to use it
- Choose a HEIC or HEIF photo.
- Wait for the decoded preview and check the image.
- Download the PNG at the original pixel dimensions.
Privacy & limitations
Conversion stays in your browser. Only the first decoded image is used; metadata, bursts and HDR are not preserved. Files are limited to 30 MB and 20 million decoded pixels.

Frequently asked questions
Is PNG smaller than HEIC?
Often it is larger, especially for photographs. Use HEIC to JPG if a compact photographic file is more useful.
Does PNG restore the original photo's quality?
No. It stores the decoded result without another lossy image-encoding step. It cannot restore lost source detail or preserve every HEIC container feature.
Can every HEIC file be opened?
No. Damaged files and unsupported variations may fail to decode. Try another source export if conversion fails.
