Why saved images turn out to be WebP
Many websites send WebP to browsers that support it, even when the page's image looks like an ordinary photo, so right-click › Save often produces a .webp file. Some programs, older versions of photo editors, and many upload forms still refuse it, which is where converting to JPG helps.
Keeping quality through the conversion
A WebP photo is usually already lossy, so saving it as JPG compresses it a second time. Use a high quality setting to keep the loss invisible, and do not convert back and forth. If the image has a transparent background you want to keep, choose WebP to PNG instead, since JPG turns transparency white.
How to use it
- Choose a WebP image.
- Set the JPG quality.
- Convert and download the result.
Privacy & limitations
The image is never uploaded. Animated WebP files are reduced to the browser-decoded frame, and metadata is not preserved.
