JPG to PNG

Convert a JPG image into a lossless PNG file without uploading it.

JPG to PNG: TOEA decodes the JPG and re-encodes its visible pixels as PNG. The conversion does not restore detail already lost to JPEG compression. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Browser-readable images, SVG and HEIC/HEIF · up to 30 files, 50 MB each and 200 MB total; SVG text up to 5 MB. Animated images and HEIC collections use one image.

Good reasons to convert

PNG is lossless, so an image you are about to edit several times does not lose a little more detail with every save. It is also what some tools and upload forms ask for, and the format to move to before an editor makes part of the image transparent.

The conversion itself cannot improve the picture: the blockiness and blur the JPG already has are copied into the PNG exactly.

Expect a larger file

A photo as PNG is typically three to ten times the size of the JPG it came from. For a web page that is the wrong trade; keep the JPG, or make it smaller still with JPG to WebP. To go back once editing is done, use PNG to JPG.

How to use it

  1. Choose a JPG or JPEG image.
  2. Convert it locally.
  3. Preview and download the PNG.

Privacy & limitations

The image stays in your browser. Metadata is removed, and the PNG may be larger than the original JPG.

No. PNG prevents additional lossy encoding, but it cannot recover detail removed from the source JPG.

Will the PNG have transparency?
