YouTube Chapter Generator
Shape a transcript into a clean, editable set of timestamped chapters—right in your browser.
YouTube Chapter Generator: TOEA groups timestamped transcript lines into sections and drafts short titles from their text. For plain text, it estimates evenly spaced starts from the supplied duration. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Giving it the right input
The generator anchors chapters to real positions when each line starts with a timestamp, such as 1:23 text, [1:23] text, or (1:02:03) text. The timestamped output of the transcript tool is already in that shape, so paste it as it is.
Plain text without times works only with a duration of at least a minute, entered as minutes or as m:ss. The starts are then spread evenly through the video, so they mark where a topic probably begins rather than where it does. The generator makes between 3 and 15 chapters; roughly one for every two to five minutes of video suits most viewers.
Turning the draft into chapters
Titles are built from the most distinctive words in each section, so they read like keyword lists. Rewrite each one as a short phrase a viewer would scan for, such as Setting up the router, and move each start to the moment the topic actually changes, a sentence or two earlier if that reads better.
Keep the first chapter at 0:00, then run the finished list through the chapter checker before pasting it into the description, since moving a start can leave a chapter shorter than ten seconds.
How to use it
- Paste timestamped notes or transcript text.
- Add the video duration if your text has no timestamps, then choose a chapter count.
- Edit the draft and copy it into your YouTube description.
Privacy & limitations
Everything runs locally in your browser; the transcript is never uploaded to TOEA. Chapter boundaries and titles are heuristic, so review the draft against the video before publishing.

Frequently asked questions
Why should I include timestamps?
Existing cue times let the generator anchor chapter starts to actual transcript positions.
Will these publish automatically?
No. Copy the edited result into your video description yourself.
