Add Text to GIF: Captions and Frame Ranges
Add white captions with a black outline to an animated GIF, or set your own colours and position. Choose font size and a frame range, with CJK text support.
Add Text to GIF: Captions and Frame Ranges: Starts with top and bottom caption positions, white text and a black outline, on all frames. Text is drawn into each selected displayed frame before saving. Long text wraps to the image width. System fonts support Chinese, Japanese and Korean when suitable fonts are installed on the device; large captions may extend beyond the image. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

GIF frames and colours
Captions become part of the frame pixels; GIF's limited colour tables also apply to text and its outline. Specification: https://www.w3.org/Graphics/GIF/spec-gif89a.txt
Frame timing
Captions keep the displayed frame timing and source repeats. Browsers can increase very short delays. Firefox timing implementation: https://github.com/mozilla/gecko-dev/blob/master/image/FrameTimeout.h

Frequently asked questions
Can a caption appear for only part of the animation?
Yes. Set the first and last frame numbers. Both endpoints are included, and all frames are selected initially.
Can I type Chinese, Japanese or Korean?
Yes. The tool uses your device's system fonts and wraps by complete characters. The exact appearance depends on the fonts installed.
Can I move the text anywhere?
Choose Free position, then set the text's centre x coordinate and top y coordinate. Top and bottom caption mode centres the two captions automatically.
