GIF Frame Extractor: PNG, ZIP and Sprite Sheet
Extract complete displayed frames from a GIF. View indexed thumbnails and delays, download one PNG or all frames in a ZIP, or make a sprite sheet.
GIF Frame Extractor: PNG, ZIP and Sprite Sheet: Displays every complete frame as it appears in the animation, including transparent overlays and earlier image content. Frames are numbered from one. PNG exports retain transparency. A sprite sheet places frames left to right and then top to bottom, with an empty area after the last frame if needed. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Composited images
GIF disposal and transparency specify how image blocks form complete displayed frames. The PNG exports use those displayed images. Specification: https://www.w3.org/Graphics/GIF/spec-gif89a.txt
Displayed delay
The listed delays account for the common 100 ms fallback for raw 0–10 ms GIF delays. Firefox implementation: https://github.com/mozilla/gecko-dev/blob/master/image/FrameTimeout.h
How to use it
- Choose a GIF to see its animation and every frame.
- Check frame indices and delays, or choose the number of sprite sheet columns.
- Download one frame, the ZIP of all frames, or a sprite sheet PNG.

Frequently asked questions
Why do some exported frames look identical?
A GIF can contain repeated displayed images with separate delays. Every frame is exported rather than removing duplicates.
Do PNGs keep the animation timing?
No. PNGs here are still images. The grid lists each GIF frame's displayed delay in milliseconds, including browser-style normalisation for very short delays.
Why is a large sprite sheet refused?
The combined image must fit within the dimension and memory limits. Change the columns, or use the ZIP to save separate PNGs instead.
