Colour Sequence Memory Game (Simon): Watch and Repeat

Repeat a growing sequence of four colours using keys, clicks or taps. Optional tones accompany the visual cues, and strict mode ends the round on the first mistake.

Colour Sequence Memory Game (Simon): Watch and Repeat: Builds a random sequence one colour at a time. Each pad has a number, colour label, visible cue and optional tone so colour is not the only signal. Sound starts off. Normal mode allows retries and replay; strict mode does not. Pause suspends play and restarts any interrupted playback on resume. Best completed lengths are saved separately for the two modes. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Start, watch, then repeat

Use keys 1–4, click or tap the labelled pads. Sound is off by default. Strict mode ends on a mistake; normal mode replays the same sequence. Like the classic Simon game. Simon is a Hasbro trademark; this is an independent colour sequence game.

Rules and strategy

Watch the whole sequence before entering it. Group a long sequence into short patterns of two or three pads, or say the pad numbers quietly to yourself. Optional tones give another way to remember the order.

Pads remain in fixed positions: green 1, red 2, yellow 3 and blue 4. The order is random and may repeat the same pad several times.

History and name

The electronic Simon game appeared in 1978. The Strong's collection record describes its signals and Ralph Baer's role in its development. This independently written game uses original rectangular pads and locally generated tones; no proprietary artwork or recordings are used.

How to use it

  1. Choose strict or normal mode, optionally turn on sound, then start the sequence.
  2. Watch the numbered colour pads light up, then repeat their order.
  3. Each completed sequence adds one colour. A mistake ends strict mode or replays the same sequence in normal mode.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the official Simon game?

No. This is an independent colour sequence memory game, like the classic Simon game. Simon is a Hasbro trademark and is used here descriptively.

Can I play with sound off?

Yes. Sound is off by default. Pads show a border cue and Now label, and each has a number and colour name. Keys 1–4 map to green, red, yellow and blue.

What changes in strict mode?

A wrong colour ends the round. In normal mode the same sequence plays again, and you can also request a replay before completing your turn.

What counts as the high score?

It is the longest sequence you completed, not the length of the next sequence shown. Strict and normal mode keep separate best lengths.
