Hindi Keyboard: Type with Devanagari InScript
Write Hindi messages, names and schoolwork using Devanagari InScript positions, vowel signs and the halant for conjuncts.
Hindi Keyboard: Type with Devanagari InScript: The keyboard maps physical positions to consonants, independent vowels and dependent vowel signs. Type consonants before their vowel signs even when the displayed sign appears to the left. Halant suppresses a consonant vowel and can form a conjunct with the following consonant. Frequently asked questions
Why does the short i sign appear before the consonant?
Type the consonant first and its short i sign afterwards. Devanagari shaping displays the sign on the left even though its Unicode order follows the consonant.
How do I make a conjunct?
Type a consonant, then the halant on D, then the next consonant. Your font determines whether the sequence uses a joined form. Shift plus digit keys also provide common conjunct sequences.
Is this phonetic Hindi typing?
No. InScript assigns characters to fixed positions. If you prefer typing Latin spellings of words, choose a phonetic Hindi input method in your device settings.
