Tamil 99: type a consonant then a vowel to add its vowel sign. F adds pulli. Repeated consonants and matching nasal-stop pairs add pulli automatically.

Layout and standard

Tamil Nadu Tamil 99, approved in 1999 and specified in G.O.(Ms) No. 29, 23 June 2010. The Tamil Virtual Academy specification (https://www.tamilvu.org/coresite/download/Teder_Document_for_Tamil_fonts_and_kbd_driver.pdf) describes the layout.

They are different arrangements. This page uses Tamil 99, the Tamil Nadu state standard, including consonant-plus-vowel composition.

How do I enter pulli?

Use the physical F position or click its on-screen key. Tamil 99 also inserts pulli for repeated consonants and matching nasal-stop pairs.

Where are the Tamil digits?

Open Extra characters. The number row enters ordinary decimal digits; the extra buttons contain Tamil digits.
