Special Characters: Copy and Paste Symbols
Copy and paste symbols with one click: ©, ™, °, €, arrows, ticks, stars, maths, currency, fractions, Greek and accented letters, and their HTML codes.
Special Characters: Copy and Paste Symbols: The page lists more than 300 commonly needed symbols by category. Clicking one copies it to your clipboard and shows its Unicode code point and how to write it in HTML (the named entity where there is one, such as ©, and the numeric one), in CSS content, and in JavaScript. The collected box lets you build a string of several symbols and copy them together. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Typing symbols without copying
On a Mac, Control+Command+Space opens the Character Viewer, and on Windows, Windows key+full stop opens the emoji and symbol panel. On phones, holding a key often offers related characters: hold the hyphen for dashes, a letter for its accents, or the dollar sign for other currencies.
For styled letters, such as bold or script text for a social profile, use the fancy text generator, and to see exactly which characters a piece of text contains, use the Unicode inspector.
Look-alike characters
Some symbols look almost the same but are different characters: the minus sign (−) and the hyphen (-), the multiplication sign (×) and the letter x, the degree sign (°) and the masculine ordinal (º), the micro sign (µ) and the Greek letter mu (μ). Search engines, screen readers, and spreadsheets treat them differently, so pick the one that means what you want.
How to use it

Frequently asked questions
How do I type the copyright symbol?
Click © above to copy it. On Windows you can also hold Alt and type 0169 on the number pad; on a Mac, press Option+G. In HTML, write ©.
How do I type the degree symbol?
Click ° above. On a Mac press Option+Shift+8, on Windows hold Alt and type 0176 on the number pad, and on phones press and hold 0 on the keyboard. In HTML it is °.
What is the difference between a hyphen, an en dash, and an em dash?
The hyphen (-) joins words, as in well-known. The en dash (–) marks ranges, such as 9–5 or 2010–2020. The em dash (—) sets off a break in a sentence. Many British writers use a spaced en dash for that instead.
Why does a symbol show as a box?
The font on the device that displays it has no picture for that character. The character is still there and will appear on devices with a font that includes it; most common symbols are in every current system font.
