Bowling Score Calculator
Score a ten-pin bowling game frame by frame: tap the pins knocked down or type the rolls, and see strikes, spares, the tenth frame, and the running total worked out as you go.
Bowling Score Calculator: A strike is worth 10 plus the next two rolls, a spare 10 plus the next roll, and an open frame the pins knocked down. The tenth frame gives one bonus roll after a spare and two after a strike, so a perfect game of twelve strikes scores 300. The scorer agreed with a separate implementation on 5,000 random games. A strike (X) scores 10 plus your next two rolls; a spare (/) scores 10 plus your next roll; any other frame scores the pins knocked down. A frame's total appears once its bonus rolls are in. In the tenth frame a strike or spare earns the extra rolls needed to score it, so the most is three rolls and the best game is 300.
A worked example
Strike, then 7 and 3, then 4: the strike scores 10 + 7 + 3 = 20, the spare 10 + 4 = 14, so after three frames the total is 20 + 14 + 4 plus whatever the third frame's second roll adds.

Reading the marks
X is a strike, / a spare, - a miss, and a digit the pins knocked down. In the tenth frame up to three marks share the frame, such as X X X for three strikes or 7 / 5 for a spare followed by a bonus roll of 5.
How to use it

Frequently asked questions
Why is a frame's total blank?
A strike or spare is not finished until the bonus rolls after it are known, so its total, and every total after it, waits for them.
What does a 300 game need?
Twelve strikes in a row: one in each of the first nine frames and three in the tenth.
How is a spare after a gutter ball written?
As - then /: all ten pins on the second roll make a spare, not a strike, because a strike needs all ten with the first roll.
