DOCX to HTML: Private Browser Tool

Convert a local DOCX to clean semantic HTML, with optional inline pictures and a full document wrapper. Preview, copy or download without uploading the file.

DOCX to HTML: Private Browser Tool: Extract readable HTML for a website, email draft or content editor. Heading levels, paragraphs, strong and emphasised text, links, nested lists and tables replace Word formatting. Inline raster pictures make the result portable. The exported HTML contains no Word styles. The preview applies its own readable colours and spacing and cannot run scripts or load remote pictures. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Up to 50 MB · the file never leaves your device

Exports semantic headings, paragraphs, emphasis, links, nested lists and tables, without Word styles. PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP images can be inlined. Other image formats remain available in the image extractor. The preview cannot run scripts or contact websites.

Headings, lists and tables are kept; page layout, fonts and floating positions are not. Merged cells are approximated. Headers, footers, comments, endnotes, equations and embedded objects are omitted. Deleted revisions are omitted; inserted text is included. External pictures are never fetched.

Document structure

ECMA-376 (https://ecma-international.org/publications-and-standards/standards/ecma-376/) defines the document structure and packaging used by DOCX files. Conversion keeps readable structure rather than the printed page layout.

Semantic HTML

The HTML standard (https://html.spec.whatwg.org/multipage/) defines headings, paragraphs, lists, links and table cells. The preview is sandboxed and only uses local embedded image data.

What is preserved

Headings, paragraphs, emphasis, hyperlinks, nested lists, tables, line and page breaks, text boxes and footnotes are read from the document. Merged cells are approximated. Headers, footers, comments, endnotes, equations and embedded objects are omitted. Deleted revisions are omitted; inserted text is included.

PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP images can appear in the preview. Other stored image formats remain downloadable from the image extractor. External pictures are never fetched.

How to use it

  1. Choose a DOCX file.
  2. Choose inline images and a full document or HTML fragment.
  3. Review the sandboxed preview, then copy or download HTML.

Which images can be included?

PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP are embedded as data URIs. SVG, WMF, EMF and other stored formats can be saved with the image extractor.

Does this preserve the original page layout?

No. This is a content conversion. Fonts, page margins, floating pictures and exact pagination are not preserved.
