Cropping to an aspect ratio
To crop to a ratio, keep one side and work out the other. For 16:9 from an image 4000 pixels wide, the height is 4000 × 9 ÷ 16 = 2250. Common ratios are 1:1 for profile pictures and square posts, 4:5 for portrait posts, 3:2 for prints from most cameras, and 16:9 for video thumbnails and banners.
Centre the crop on what matters: the x offset is half of the width you remove, and the y offset half of the height.
Crop first, then resize
Cropping discards pixels outside the rectangle and keeps the rest untouched, so do it before any resizing and work from the original. Then bring the result to its final size with the image resizer, and straighten a sideways photo beforehand with rotate image.
How to use it
- Choose an image.
- Enter the crop origin, width, and height.
- Crop and download the result.
