Voice Recorder
Record audio from your microphone in the browser, with a level meter, pause, playback, trimming, and WAV export.
Voice Recorder: TOEA records the microphone on your device with the browser's encoder, shows the level and waveform while you record, and can decode the result to write it, or a trimmed span of it, as 16-bit WAV. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Runs entirely in your browser
The browser asks for the microphone the first time. Audio is recorded on your device and never uploaded; up to an hour per recording.
Setting the level
Speak at your normal volume while watching the meter before you start. The loudest moments should come well short of the top: sound pushed past the maximum is clipped, a harsh distortion that no editing can undo, while a slightly quiet recording can be raised later. With the processing option off, automatic gain control is off too, so set the microphone's input level in your system's sound settings. The mic test is a quick way to check which microphone the browser is using before a long take.
Microphone placement and room
Keep the microphone about a hand's width to 20 cm from your mouth and slightly to one side, so plosive sounds such as p and b do not hit it with bursts of air. A small room with soft furnishings, such as curtains, a sofa, or a wardrobe of clothes, echoes far less than a kitchen or an empty room, and that echo cannot be removed after recording.
How to use it
- Start recording and allow the browser to use the microphone.
- Watch the meter while you speak; pause and resume as needed.
- Stop, play it back, then download it or trim it as WAV.

Frequently asked questions
Which format do I get?
WebM with Opus in most browsers and M4A in Safari, both small and widely playable. Use the WAV option for editors and transcription tools that want uncompressed audio.
Should I turn on noise suppression?
For a voice note in a noisy room, yes. For music or anything you will edit, leave it off; the processing can pump and clip.
How does trimming work?
The recording is decoded and the span you set is written as WAV, so it is instant and lossless. It cannot write the trimmed span back into WebM or M4A.
How long can I record?
An hour at most, which is roughly 60 MB of Opus. WAV of the same length would be around 600 MB, so trim before converting long recordings.
