Split Image
Cut an image into a grid of rows and columns, or into tiles of a set pixel size, and download every piece as PNGs in a ZIP.
Split Image: The grid lines are spaced as evenly as whole pixels allow, so when the size does not divide exactly, the leftover pixels go to some of the tiles instead of being cut off; every pixel ends up in exactly one tile. Tiles of a fixed size run from the top left, with smaller ones at the right and bottom edges. Each tile is a PNG named by its row and column. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

When the size does not divide evenly, the leftover pixels go to the tiles at the edges, so every pixel ends up in exactly one tile and the pieces fit back together. Tiles are saved as PNG, named by row and column.
How uneven sizes are divided
A 1000-pixel-wide image in 3 columns cannot split into whole equal parts, so the grid lines fall at 333 and 667 pixels, giving tiles 333, 334, and 333 pixels wide. No pixel is dropped or repeated, so the tiles join back into the original exactly.
To put tiles back together, use merge images; for a profile grid, the Instagram grid maker.
Uses
Splitting is handy for a large poster printed on several sheets, a long image posted as a carousel, tiles for a puzzle or a game, and pieces small enough for a site with an upload limit.
How to use it
- Choose an image.
- Split it into rows and columns, or into tiles of a fixed width and height.
- Check the grid on the preview and download the tiles.
Privacy & limitations

Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as an Instagram grid?
It is the general version: any number of rows and columns, or any tile size. For a grid of posts that line up on an Instagram profile, the Instagram grid maker sets the 3-column layout and the 4:5 crop for you.
Will the tiles fit back together?
Yes: they are cut on whole pixels with no overlap and no gaps; the merge images tool can join them again.
Is there a limit?
Up to 400 tiles per image.
