Photo Jigsaw Puzzle: Play with Your Own Image

Turn a photo into a browser jigsaw with 12–300 pieces and balanced 24, 48, 100 and 200 piece presets. Drag and snap tab-shaped pieces, move connected groups, and save your current puzzle on this device.

Photo Jigsaw Puzzle: Play with Your Own Image: Cuts the image into a rectangular grid with complementary curved tabs. Nearby neighbours snap together and connected groups move as one. The timer and move count track progress; a completed puzzle is marked when all pieces are on the board. Edge-first mode reveals interior pieces after the border is placed. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Runs entirely in your browser

Upload a photo or solve the colourful pattern. Your image stays in this browser. Your current puzzle, including a smaller copy of the image, is saved in this browser so you can come back to it.

The exact count determines a rectangular grid. Presets give balanced pieces; prime counts make a single row or column of narrow pieces.

Piece geometry

Complementary neighbour edges use cubic Bezier curves, with a seeded pattern of inward and outward tabs. SVG path reference: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/SVG/Tutorial/Paths . The generated colourful starter is original procedural artwork, not a stock photo.

Local progress

Your current puzzle, including a smaller copy of the image, is saved in this browser so you can come back to it. This includes piece positions, connected groups, time and moves. Browser storage reference: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Web_Storage_API . The saved image is at most 1,000 pixels on its longer side.

How to use it

  1. Upload a photo or use the generated colourful pattern.
  2. Choose a piece count and start a new puzzle; optionally show only edge pieces or the ghost image.

Frequently asked questions

Will my photo be uploaded?

No. The photo is decoded and downscaled in your browser. The saved puzzle includes that downscaled image on this device.

Can I resume later?

The latest puzzle restores in the same browser if local storage is available and has not been cleared. Starting a new puzzle replaces that saved progress.

How do I move a connected group?

Drag any unplaced piece in the group. Neighbouring pieces snap when their relative positions are close. Keyboard users can focus a piece, move it with arrow keys and press Enter to snap.
