Sea Battle: Play in Your Browser

Place a five-ship fleet and hunt the computer on two 10 × 10 grids, with drag or random placement.

Sea Battle: Play in Your Browser: Place ships of lengths 5, 4, 3, 3 and 2 without overlap, then take turns firing one shot at the opposing grid. The computer hunts with a probability density based on known shot results and the remaining ship lengths. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Your fleet

Enemy waters

Place ships of lengths 5, 4, 3, 3 and 2 on your 10 × 10 grid. Drag the next ship onto its starting square, or click, tap or Enter on that square; rotate before placing. Ships may touch but cannot overlap. Random placement is also available. Each turn fires one shot. The computer uses shot results and remaining ship lengths to hunt with a probability density. Arrows move focus. Sink all five ships to win.

Fleet and turn rules

A standard fleet occupies 17 squares on a 10 × 10 grid: lengths 5, 4, 3, 3 and 2. Publisher rules for the familiar commercial game: https://instructions.hasbro.com/en-au/instruction/battleship . This version uses one shot per turn, including after a hit.

Hunting and artwork

The computer counts placements consistent with misses and sunk squares, favouring placements through unsunk hits. Random ties keep games varied. Boards, markers and ship blocks are original browser drawings; no publisher artwork is used.

Frequently asked questions

Can ships touch?

Yes. This page allows neighbouring ships, but they cannot overlap or extend outside the board. Place horizontally or vertically.

Can the computer see my fleet?

Its target choices use only the revealed hits, misses, sunk squares and remaining ship lengths. It cannot repeat a shot. The hidden fleet is used to resolve a chosen shot, just as your shots are resolved against its fleet.
