SAT to ACT Conversion (Official Concordance Tables)

Convert an SAT total to an ACT composite or an ACT composite to an SAT total and range, using the concordance tables ACT and the College Board published in 2018, with the full ACT to SAT table.

SAT to ACT Conversion (Official Concordance Tables): The tool looks your score up in the official 2018 concordance tables: an SAT total of 1310 corresponds to an ACT composite of 28, and an ACT of 28 to an SAT of 1310, within a range of 1300 to 1320. SAT totals below 590 and ACT composites below 9 are outside the tables. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Scores are converted with the official concordance tables that ACT and the College Board published together in 2018, which are still the current version. Concordant scores are comparable, not equal: they show which scores were reached by the same share of students, not what you would score on the other test.

Reading the ranges

Each ACT composite corresponds to a range of SAT totals, because the SAT has more score points: an ACT of 30 matches SAT totals from 1360 to 1380, with 1370 as the single best match.

Section scores

The official concordance also compares SAT Math with ACT Math, and SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing with ACT English plus Reading; this tool converts the totals.

How to use it

  1. Choose SAT to ACT or ACT to SAT.
  2. Enter your score.
  3. Read the concordant score and compare it in the table.

Frequently asked questions

Are these the official tables?

Yes: ACT and the College Board produced them together in 2018, and ACT states that they are the latest version and are not updated each year.

Does the digital SAT use the same tables?

The digital SAT keeps the 400 to 1600 scale, and colleges continue to use the 2018 concordance to compare it with the ACT.

Should I take the SAT or the ACT?

Take a practice test of each, convert your scores here, and focus on the test where your concordant score is higher.
