Paragraphs, headings, lists and simple aligned tables are inferred from text positions. Embedded pictures are placed after the page text. Original fonts, image positions, complex columns, diagrams and exact spacing are not preserved. Check the result before sharing.

Document formats

Office Open XML defines DOCX and XLSX packaging, relationships, text and worksheets. The ECMA-376 catalogue (https://ecma-international.org/publications-and-standards/standards/ecma-376/) describes the format family. PDF page content is specified by ISO 32000; the ISO catalogue (https://www.iso.org/standard/75839.html) identifies the standard. These conversions rebuild useful content rather than guaranteeing an identical layout.

Conversion libraries

PDF creation uses pdf-lib (MIT; https://pdf-lib.js.org/docs/api/), and PDF reading and rendering use PDF.js (Apache 2.0; https://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/). Both run locally in this tool. No document upload is required.

Frequently asked questions

Can this convert a scanned PDF?

A scan without a text layer cannot be reconstructed here. Use PDF OCR first, then convert a searchable PDF. Pages with no text in a mixed document may contain only pictures.

Are tables and columns preserved?

Simple aligned tables and two-column prose can be inferred. Merged tables, sidebars, irregular reading order and multi-column designs can be misread. Check every table and paragraph order.

What happens to pictures and formatting?

Embedded raster images are added after the text on their page; their original positions are lost. Heading sizes, bold and italic are inferred. Original fonts, drawings and exact spacing are not retained.
