Passport Photo Maker

Make a passport or ID photo in the browser: pick the country format, replace the background with white, blue, or red, frame the head automatically, and download the photo or a print sheet at 300 dpi.

Passport Photo Maker: TOEA finds the face and crops to the format's head size and margins, separates the person from the background with a segmentation model that runs in your browser, paints the background colour the format asks for, and writes the file with a 300 dpi print density so a lab prints it at the right size. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Choose a photo

A head-and-shoulders photo, or use the camera · face forward, even light, plain wall behind you

The 35 × 45 size used for many Chinese visa and exam applications. Output 413 × 531 pixels at 300 dpi.

Kept deliberately light: exposure, warmth, and a soft-focus on skin texture. Anything that changes the shape of the face, the eyes, or the skin tone is refused by passport offices.

Printing the sheet at true size

Print the sheet at 100% or Actual size. A print dialog set to Fit to page or Scale to fit shrinks it slightly, and the photos then miss the required size by a millimeter or two, which is enough for them to be refused. When ordering from a photo lab, choose the paper size the sheet was made for and turn off automatic cropping and borderless enlargement. Measure one photo with a ruler before cutting the rest.

Taking a photo that passes

Have someone take the photo from about 1.5 meters away with the camera at eye level; a selfie at arm's length exaggerates the nose and distorts the proportions of the face. Face a window or other even light so there are no shadows on the face, and stand a step away from the wall so your shadow falls outside the frame. Most authorities also want a recent photo, typically taken within the last six months, and some ask for less.

How to use it

  1. Choose a head-and-shoulders photo or take one with the camera.
  2. Pick the format and background; the face is framed automatically, and the sliders adjust it.
  3. Save the single photo, or a 4 × 6 sheet with several copies, at 300 dpi.

Privacy & limitations

The photo never leaves your device. The first background change downloads the segmentation runtime and model, about 12 MB, from public CDNs; after that everything runs locally.

Frequently asked questions

Will this be accepted for my passport?

The size, proportions, background colour, and resolution will match the format. Acceptance also depends on expression, lighting, glasses, head covering, and recency, which no tool can check. Read your authority's rules; the note under the format summarises the key ones.

How well does the background replacement work?

Well on a plain wall with even light and hair that is not backlit. Stray hairs, wispy edges, and busy backgrounds are where it is weakest; a plain background behind you when the photo is taken helps far more than any fix afterwards.

Why are the head sizes different per format?

Each authority specifies the head height and margins; the dashed guides show the range for the chosen format, and automatic framing aims for the middle of it. Adjust with the sliders if the detector misjudged the hairline.

What is the print sheet for?

Photo labs and home printers print standard paper sizes, not 35 × 45 mm. The sheet lays as many copies as fit on 4 × 6, 5 × 7, or A6 with cut marks, at 300 dpi, so the printed photos come out at the exact size.

Which background should I pick?

White for most passports and visas. In China, blue is common for résumés and some certificates, red for a few institutional documents; the format's default is the usual choice.
