Org Chart Maker: Teams, Managers and Departments: List people with their job titles and managers, or import a spreadsheet as CSV, and get an organisation chart laid out neatly top-down or left-to-right, coloured by department. Fold teams, and download the chart as SVG, PNG or PDF or the list as CSV. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Use unique names. Leave the manager empty for a root. Department colours are assigned automatically; initials never fetch a photo.

CSV import and column mapping
Import an indented list

Use two spaces per level. Each line is Name | Title | Department. A child reports to the preceding parent.

SVG and PNG include the visible branches. PDF contains a raster image of the chart. Long labels are shortened in the chart; CSV retains the full text.

Tidy-tree layout

The layout follows the tidy-tree principle of separating sibling subtree contours and centring parents. It supports a forest and either display direction. The chart has a limit of 200 people.

Local export libraries

Charts are drawn in your browser; PDF files are made with pdf-lib, an MIT-licensed open-source library. CSV import supports quoted fields, line breaks inside cells and a UTF-8 byte-order mark. Library source: https://github.com/Hopding/pdf-lib

How to use it

  1. Add people with unique names, job titles, managers and optional departments.
  2. Map CSV columns or import a two-space indented list. Fix missing managers or cycles.
  3. Choose direction and initials, collapse teams if needed, and download the chart or CSV.

Privacy & limitations

Names, titles and reporting relationships remain in this browser session. There is no upload, image fetching or local storage persistence.

Frequently asked questions

Can there be several top-level people?

Yes. Leave each root's manager blank. Every other manager must match an existing unique name.

How do I import a list?

Write Name | Title | Department on each line. Use two spaces per child level. The child reports to the preceding parent.

What does PDF export contain?

A single page containing a PNG of the visible chart. Use SVG for vector text and paths. PNG dimensions are limited to protect browser memory.

Can two people share a name?

Names are identifiers, so they must be unique. Add a distinguishing team name or suffix when needed. Long chart labels are shortened; CSV keeps the full text.
