Preparing the files first

The merged file is roughly the sum of its parts, so a single phone scan of 20 MB will dominate it. Compress scanned documents on their own before merging; compressing afterwards turns every page into an image, including the typed ones. A password-protected PDF cannot be opened for merging, so remove its password in the program that set it.

Pages keep the orientation they had. If one scan came in sideways, merge first and then turn just those pages with rotate PDF, naming them by their position in the combined file.

What the combined file carries

The result is a new document built from the pages, so it does not inherit the title, author, or dates of any source file; add those again in the program you finish the document in if they matter. Filled-in form fields should be made permanent with flatten PDF forms before merging, so the answers are part of the page rather than a layer that is left behind.

How to use it

  1. Choose two or more PDFs.
  2. Check the order in the list.
  3. Merge and download the combined file.

Privacy & limitations

The file is opened and rewritten in your browser and never uploaded, which is the point when the document is a contract, a scan, or anything else you would not hand to a stranger. Bookmarks, form fields, and annotations are not carried across.

Frequently asked questions

How is the order decided?

Files merge in the order shown in the list, which is the order you added them. Clear and re-add to change it.

Are page sizes preserved?

Yes. Each page keeps its original size and rotation, so mixing A4 and Letter produces a document with both.

What about bookmarks and form fields?

They are not carried across. The output contains the pages and their content, not the interactive layer around them.

Is there a size limit?

60 MB per file. The work happens in your browser, so very large documents are limited by your own memory.
