Merged cells and cell contents
Cells with colspan or rowspan are repeated in every column and row they cover, because neither Markdown nor CSV can merge cells; delete the repeats if the value should appear once. Every tag inside a cell is removed, <br> included, so two lines in one cell run together without a space. Only &, <, >, ", and are decoded; other entities such as ' or é stay as written. A pipe inside a cell is escaped as \| in the Markdown so it does not split the column.
Getting the table markup
To take a table from a web page, right-click it, choose Inspect, select the <table> element in the developer tools, and use Copy › Copy outerHTML, or Copy › Outer HTML in Firefox. Convert one table at a time: every row found in the input is treated as part of a single table. Tables built from <div> elements, common in web apps, have no <tr> rows and cannot be read this way.
How to use it
- Paste your HTML <table> markup.
- Select output format (Markdown or CSV).
- Copy the formatted table.
Privacy & limitations
HTML text is parsed entirely in local browser RAM without network requests.
