Opening the CSV in Excel

Excel opens CSV files with its own guesses: long numbers turn into scientific notation, leading zeros disappear, and accented letters can come out garbled. Importing through Data › From Text/CSV, choosing UTF-8 and setting the affected columns to Text, keeps them intact. Google Sheets and LibreOffice handle UTF-8 by default.

Nested data and formula injection

CSV is flat. Nested objects and arrays are written into one cell as JSON text, which keeps the data but not the shape; for a clean table, flatten the records first so each field is a single value.

If the data came from users, watch for cells that begin with =, +, -, or @. Spreadsheet programs can treat them as formulas when the file is opened. Prefix such cells with an apostrophe, or have the program that consumes the file import them as text.

How to use it

  1. Paste a JSON array of objects.
  2. Choose comma or tab output.
  3. Convert and download the table.

Privacy & limitations

Conversion happens locally. Nested objects and arrays are preserved as JSON text inside a cell.
