Choose how many days to count back from your local date. Switch to weekdays only, change the starting date and save the result to your calendar.
Days Ago Calculator: Choose a look-back length to locate the beginning of a personal record search, activity comparison or project history. The calculator starts from your local date and subtracts the count you enter. Change the anchor if you are reviewing an archived report whose end date differs from today. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

The starting date is day zero. Weekdays exclude it and include the target. Business days mean Monday–Friday; public holidays are included.

An adjustable look-back calculation
Earlier date = anchor date − N calendar days, with N as the requested look-back count.
For a worked custom interval, 1 April 2025 − 17 days = 15 March 2025: one move reaches March 31 and sixteen more reach March 15. With zero days the earlier date remains the anchor.
Writing down both boundaries
When reviewing a project, first choose whether the question is “what happened since this date” or “which entries occupy the previous N dates”. Those questions can include different endpoints. Keep the explicit anchor in your notes so a colleague can reproduce the search later, and check the time zone used by timestamped records before applying a date-only boundary.
The civil Gregorian calendar described by the US Naval Observatory (https://aa.usno.navy.mil/faq/calendars) supplies the date structure. This tool locates dates; it does not retrieve events, infer when a purchase happened or set an archive’s filtering convention.
How to use it
- Read the 30-day result for your local date, or change the starting date and number of days.
- Choose calendar days or business days; the starting date is excluded.
- Read the weekday count and ISO week number, then download an all-day calendar reminder.

Frequently asked questions
How can I find the date seventeen days before a report?
Enter the report date as Starting date and 17 as Days back. For an anchor of 1 April 2025, the target is 15 March 2025. This avoids accidentally using the day you happen to open the calculator.
Does the earlier date define a complete reporting filter?
It gives one boundary. Your report also needs an end boundary and an inclusion convention. A filter that includes both the earlier date and the anchor contains one more dated entry than the elapsed-day difference between them.
Can I use business mode to search work records?
It skips weekends while counting backwards, which can suit a chosen weekday schedule. It still counts public holidays. If your archive includes weekend activity or has a different working week, retain calendar mode or use its own date filter.
