Calendar / date offsets

Find the date 30 days ago to locate a receipt, begin a recent activity review or compare a measurement with a fixed earlier date. Change the anchor when reviewing an older report. Thirty days ago is not necessarily the same numbered date last month.

30 Days Ago: Locate the date thirty elapsed days before a chosen review point for a spending check, reading log or recent activity comparison. This look-back is useful for a fixed-length window that moves each day. It should be distinguished from the previous named calendar month in a statement or report. Finding a recent window boundary

Past boundary = review date − 30 calendar days.

From 1 April 2025, subtract one day to reach 31 March and another twenty-nine to reach 2 March 2025, a Sunday. The elapsed difference back to April 1 is thirty days. A daily-record window excluding April 1 covers March 2 through March 31.

Comparing recent activity fairly

For a spending review, keep categories and inclusion choices the same when comparing consecutive windows. Thirty days of purchases can be compared with another thirty-day span without assuming equal calendar-month lengths. A reading log might instead compare completed pages per elapsed day. If a source records an exact time, check its time zone before deciding which dated entry it belongs to.

The US Naval Observatory calendar guide (https://aa.usno.navy.mil/faq/calendars) explains the months behind the boundary. A rolling thirty-day selection and the previous calendar month answer different questions.

How to use it

  1. Read the 30-day result for your local date, or change the starting date and number of days.
  2. Choose calendar days or business days; the starting date is excluded.
  3. Read the weekday count and ISO week number, then download an all-day calendar reminder.

Frequently asked questions

Is thirty days ago the same as the start of last month?

No. With 1 April 2025 as the anchor, thirty days ago is 2 March. The previous calendar month begins on March 1. A statement organised by named months uses that month’s boundaries, not this rolling offset.

How do I select exactly thirty dated daily entries?

If the review date is the end boundary and excluded, include the earlier target and the dates up to the day before the anchor. Including both target and anchor creates thirty-one dated entries even though their separation is thirty elapsed days.

Can this help locate an old purchase?

It can supply a search boundary for your own receipts or email. Search around that boundary if you only remember an approximate purchase age. It does not establish the transaction date or whether a return policy applies.
