Read Cancer's daily transit almanac for your local day, with the Moon's house, exact aspects, retrogrades, nearby lunations and seven days of sky events.

Cancer Horoscope Today: Today's Transits for Cancer: This Cancer horoscope today describes the sky through traditional whole-sign houses. Cancer is counted as the entire first house, and the other signs follow in zodiac order. Real planetary positions supply the Moon and planet houses, exact aspects, sign changes and retrograde dates. Short sentences follow fixed rules, and the focus comes from an exact Moon aspect or the Moon's house. Your browser uses your local calendar day. Usual dates
Jun 21 – Jul 22

These are the usual tropical Sun-sign dates; the Sun's exact entry can vary near a boundary. Traditional rulers are shown here; some modern traditions also associate Scorpio with Pluto, Aquarius with Uranus and Pisces with Neptune.

For Cancer, the whole of Cancer is house 1; Leo is house 2 and Gemini is house 12. The same counting places each real planetary position into a house. Exact aspects are measured angles between transiting bodies, without a birth chart.

The focus uses the tightest exact Moon aspect, measured by its orb at the local day's midpoint, and names the other planet's house theme. Ties use the earliest time. With no exact Moon aspect, it uses the Moon's house. The column includes up to four exact aspects, with both houses measured at each event. Lunations appear within one local calendar day of a new or full moon.

Traditional house themes

In astrological tradition, houses name areas of life. Their associations describe a cultural framework, without measured effects.

  1. 1st house: traditionally identity, appearance and self-expression.
  2. 2nd house: traditionally possessions, money and personal resources.
  3. 3rd house: traditionally communication, siblings and local journeys.
  4. 4th house: traditionally home, family and roots.
  5. 5th house: traditionally creativity, play and romance.
  6. 6th house: traditionally daily work, routines and health.
  7. 7th house: traditionally partnerships, agreements and one-to-one relationships.
  8. 8th house: traditionally shared resources, inheritance and loss.
  9. 9th house: traditionally learning, belief and distant journeys.
  10. 10th house: traditionally public life, vocation and reputation.
  11. 11th house: traditionally friends, groups and hopes.
  12. 12th house: traditionally solitude, retreat and hidden matters.

How transits map to houses

For Cancer, count that sign as house 1 and the next as house 2, continuing through all twelve signs. A body's house is the number of signs forward from Cancer, plus one. The tropical zodiac has twelve equal 30° signs measured from the equinox; these differ from astronomical constellations.

The twelve house themes summarise traditional Western associations. William Lilly's Christian Astrology (1647), Book I, is a public-domain historical source for house meanings and aspect symbolism. The theme wording here is original and describes a cultural tradition, rather than scientific evidence of effects.

Astronomy Engine by Don Cross (https://github.com/cosinekitty/astronomy), licensed under MIT, supplies geocentric apparent positions. Local sign crossings, lunar phases and exact aspects are calculated from those positions. Retrograde motion means apparent backwards motion from Earth, and a shadow marks the repeated longitude range around a retrograde loop.

Aspect themes used in the daily text

Conjunction, 0°: traditionally blends the two house themes. Sextile, 60°: traditionally an opening between them. Square, 90°: traditionally friction between them. Trine, 120°: traditionally an easy link between them. Opposition, 180°: traditionally a balancing act between them. When both bodies share a house, the description stays within that theme.

These five neutral descriptions are original editorial summaries of astrological tradition. Up to four aspects perfecting during the local day appear in the daily reading, ordered by their orb at the local day's midpoint, then exact time. Each names both houses and their themes at the exact event. The focus takes the other body's house at the tightest exact Moon aspect. The week ahead shows computed house changes and exact aspects over the next seven local calendar days. None of these descriptions forecasts events.

Frequently asked questions

How is the Cancer horoscope made?

Fixed rules turn real astronomical positions and computed transit events into short traditional descriptions for Cancer. No AI-written predictions are used. The focus uses the tightest exact Moon aspect, measured by its orb at the local day's midpoint, then the earliest time. Without an exact Moon aspect, it uses the Moon's house. The themes are cultural associations for entertainment.

Why use whole-sign houses?

Whole-sign houses give each of the twelve signs one complete house. Cancer is house 1 here, the next sign is house 2, and counting continues around the zodiac. This gives a consistent way to organise a sign column without asking for a birth time. It is one astrological convention, rather than evidence of effects.

Does this apply to my rising sign?

Traditionally, sun-sign columns use the Sun sign. Reading a column with your rising sign is also common in astrological tradition. Our rising-sign calculator can find that sign from a birth time and place. Neither reading is a scientific forecast.

Which time zone does this horoscope use?

The browser uses your device's time zone to define the local day. Event times include a UTC offset. Positions use the local day's midpoint, so the daily reading is consistent throughout that day. The date control and date URL parameter can show another day; the base page remains the only permanent URL for this sign.

Is this horoscope scientific?

No. The planetary positions and event times are astronomical calculations, but the meanings assigned to signs, houses and aspects belong to astrological tradition. This page is for culture and entertainment and makes no predictions or personal recommendations.
