Continuous assessment (40%): yearly averages
Final exams (60%)
Average so far—0 of 100 coefficients entered

Pass at 10; Assez bien from 12, Bien from 14, Très bien from 16, and the jury's congratulations from 18. Between 8 and 10, the second round of oral exams can still give the bac. For 2027, the early maths exam (coefficient 2) is added and the grand oral drops to 8. Optional subjects add their own coefficients and are not included here.

Where the points come from

The two specialities kept in terminale together carry 32 of the 100 coefficients, almost a third of the bac; the grand oral 10 (8 from 2027) and philosophy 8. A point more in a speciality is worth twice a point in philosophy.

For averages in other systems, see the PAU calculator and the Notenrechner.

Continuous assessment

The continuous-assessment marks are the averages on your report cards in première and terminale, for each subject. Your school sends them to the exam board, and the jury has the final say, so the official result can differ slightly from your own calculation.

How to use it

  1. Choose your session: 2026, or 2027 and later, when the early maths exam is added.
  2. Enter your yearly averages for the continuous-assessment subjects and your marks in the final exams, out of 20.
  3. Read your average out of 20 and your mention.

Frequently asked questions

What happens between 8 and 10?

You go to the second round: two oral exams in subjects of your choice from the final exams, which replace those marks if better, and can lift your average to 10.

Do optional subjects count?

Yes: each optional subject adds its coefficient to both continuous assessment and the total. They are left out here; ask your school for your options' coefficients.

When is the bac technologique different?

The technological bac has its own speciality subjects with the same 40/60 split; the coefficients of the continuous-assessment subjects differ slightly.
