Video Contact Sheet Generator
Lay evenly spaced frames from a video out on a single PNG grid, each labelled with its timestamp.
Video Contact Sheet Generator: TOEA samples frames at even intervals across the clip or the range you set, scales each to the chosen width, arranges them in a grid on a dark background, and stamps the time in the corner of every frame. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Matching frames to columns
Pick a frame count that fills the grid, so the last row is not half empty: 9 frames in 3 columns, 16 or 20 in 4, 25 or 30 in 5, 36 in 6. For vertical phone video, use more columns; tall frames in 3 or 4 columns make a sheet far taller than a screen.
The timestamps sit at the midpoint of each interval rather than on round numbers: twelve frames across a minute are stamped 0:02.5, 0:07.5, 0:12.5, and so on. Use one to find a scene in the original, then save that exact moment at full resolution with video screenshot.
Keeping the sheet readable when shared
Chat apps and email clients shrink large images before showing them, and a sheet 4000 pixels wide is shrunk until the timestamps are unreadable. For sharing, keep the sheet under about 2000 pixels wide, for example 320-pixel frames in 5 or 6 columns. The timestamp text grows with the frame width, so the smallest 240-pixel frames have the smallest labels; go larger when the sheet is for printing or close inspection.
How to use it
- Choose a video file.
- Pick how many frames, how many columns, and the frame width.
- Build the sheet and download the PNG.
Privacy & limitations
The video is read straight from your device and never uploaded. Everything — decoding, resizing, and encoding — happens in this browser tab, so large files are limited by your own memory rather than an upload queue. The sheet is a single PNG, so it can be dropped into a document, a message, or a file listing.

Frequently asked questions
What is a contact sheet for?
A one-glance overview of a clip: checking a download is the right file, choosing a thumbnail, or showing a client what a rough cut contains without sending the video.
How many frames should I use?
Sixteen in four columns suits most clips. Go higher for long recordings where scenes change often, and lower if you want each frame large enough to read detail.
How big is the image?
The width is the frame width times the columns, plus a small gutter, and the height follows from the number of rows. Twenty frames at 320 pixels in four columns is about 1,300 pixels wide.
Can I sheet only part of the video?
Yes. Set the start and end seconds and the frames are spread across that range instead of the whole clip.
