Enter split shifts as separate segments. Gaps are already unpaid: deduct only extra breaks taken inside a segment. An out time before the in time ends the next day; tick ‘Starts next day’ for a segment that begins after midnight on the same card row.
Choose a week starting date to export or print the card.

No punch rounding. Extra unpaid breaks are deducted from the recorded minutes.
Overtime is time above 40 hours per week, paid at 1.5× the entered hourly rate. Rate: not entered. Pay uses the same currency as your rate, before deductions.
Clock-time totals do not adjust for daylight-saving changes. Each entire shift belongs to its card row, including work past midnight or the end of the week. Split records at your payroll boundary if required. This estimate does not apply local payroll rules.
Time and rounding
Worked minutes are the sum of rounded segment ends minus rounded starts, less the extra unpaid break. The US Department of Labor describes rounding to five minutes, one tenth of an hour (six minutes), or a quarter hour, provided it does not undercount work over time: https://webapps.dol.gov/elaws/whd/flsa/hoursworked/screenEr29.asp
Rounding here is a calculation option, not a statement that a practice is permitted in your jurisdiction. Use no rounding to retain the entered clock minutes.
Weekly overtime and unpaid breaks
Regular hours are the smaller of total hours and the weekly threshold. Overtime is the excess. Estimated gross pay equals regular hours times rate plus overtime hours times rate times 1.5. The US federal baseline for covered non-exempt workers is overtime after 40 hours per week: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/overtime
Deduct only breaks that should be unpaid under the applicable rules. US guidance distinguishes short rest breaks from bona fide meal periods: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/fact-sheets/22-flsa-hours-worked
Choosing a work-hours tool
Use the work hours calculator for one same-day span, the timesheet template for a simple weekly record with daily overtime options, or this card for multiple daily punches and rounding. The entire shift is assigned to its row, even across midnight or the week boundary; split records at the payroll boundary if needed.
How to use it
- Set the first date of the seven-day card, rounding increment and weekly overtime threshold. Optionally enter an hourly rate.
- Enter shifts as separate segments. Tick Starts next day for an after-midnight continuation, and deduct only extra unpaid breaks inside the entered segments.
- Review the daily totals, weekly overtime and gross pay, then download CSV or print the summary.

Frequently asked questions
Should I enter lunch as a gap or as an unpaid break?
Use either a gap between segments or a deduction inside a segment. If you enter 09:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00, the hour between them is already excluded. Do not deduct it again.
How are overnight shifts and rounding handled?
An out time earlier than the in time means the next day. Punches are rounded separately to the nearest selected increment, with exact ties forward. Whole shifts stay on their card row; clock totals do not adjust for daylight saving.
Does the overtime pay match every payroll system?
No. This is a weekly-threshold estimate with a fixed 1.5 multiplier. Local daily overtime, exemptions, premiums, taxes and payroll-boundary rules are not applied. All amounts use the same currency as the rate you enter.
