Stream Overlay: Countdown, Clock and Scrolling Text
Choose an overlay mode, text, size, colours, alignment and text effect. Preview it over a checkerboard and copy a URL for an OBS or Streamlabs browser source.
Stream Overlay: Countdown, Clock and Scrolling Text: The builder encodes validated settings in a URL. With overlay=1, the page hides the site interface and shows a full-viewport overlay on a transparent background. Timers use the viewing device’s clock; the timestamp in the URL identifies an instant in UTC. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Preparing the overlay…
Clock and time zone
Enter the target in the builder’s local time. The link stores that instant in UTC; the overlay uses the viewer’s device clock and local time zone. Check the device clock if a timer is early or late.
Browser-source layout
Set the browser source’s dimensions to the area you want to cover. The preview checkerboard is only an editing aid. Scrolling text travels across the source in a repeating 20-second cycle.
How to use it
- Choose the overlay mode and set its text or local date and time.
- Adjust the size, colours, alignment and outline or shadow.
- Copy the browser-source URL and paste it into your streaming software.
Privacy & limitations
The overlay is assembled in your browser. Its settings and text are included in the copied URL, so anyone with that link can read them.

Frequently asked questions
How is the background made transparent?
Overlay mode makes html and body transparent. OBS also adds body { background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0); } as its browser source’s default custom CSS.
What happens at zero?
A countdown stops at zero or displays your chosen text, such as LIVE. A count-up timer stays at zero until its start time arrives.
What happens to invalid URL parameters?
Invalid settings fall back individually to defaults and a notice identifies them. A timer without a valid timestamp stays at zero. Unknown keys are ignored.
