Sample Order Generator

Generate synthetic order fixtures with test-only IDs.

Sample Order Generator: Populate order lists with synthetic references, quantities, totals and test statuses. Sample Order Generator creates JSON records whose customer and product references match the same row positions in the profile and product generators. These are test workflow records, with totals drawn independently rather than calculated from a basket. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Independent totals and a worked fixture

For index i, reference ordinals equal i + 1. Let q be an independently drawn quantity from 1 to 5 and v a whole draw from 0 to 9900; total = 10 + v/100. With Rows = 1, q = 1, v = 0 and the first status selected, the object is {"id":"ORDER-TEST-0001","customerId":"PROFILE-TEST-0001","productSku":"SKU-TEST-0001","quantity":1,"total":10,"status":"test-pending"}. The total is 10 + 0/100 = 10, regardless of whether the linked product costs 5 or 14.95. The widget wraps the object in a JSON array. Generate matching-sized arrays with the sample profile generator and sample product generator to populate the linked fixtures.

Repeatable workflow tests

Save one generated file for stable assertions, then create deliberate status variants to exercise your order-detail and empty-state screens. The control accepts 1–100 rows and cannot generate an empty order array; add an empty fixture separately. RFC 8259 (https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc8259) documents JSON values, but valid JSON does not imply a valid commercial order. Totals are binary floating-point numbers without a currency field, and there are no tax, delivery or payment details. Treat all TEST identifiers as local fixtures rather than real transaction references.

How to use it

  1. Choose a whole row count from 1 to 100.
  2. Generate a synthetic batch in your browser.
  3. Copy or download the fixture and save it for repeatable tests.

Privacy & limitations

Generation stays on this device. The records are fictional test fixtures; review and isolate the application that consumes them.

Frequently asked questions

Should quantity multiplied by product price equal total?

No. Quantity is a whole number from 1 to 5 and total is a separate generated amount from 10 to 109 inclusive. The generator does not look up the linked product price. Use hand-calculated orders to test discounts, tax or arithmetic; these rows suit lists, filters and relationship displays.

How can I join orders to generated customers and products?

Create equal-sized profile, product and order batches. Row 2 references PROFILE-TEST-0002 and SKU-TEST-0002, matching those identifiers in the other arrays. These links are textual conventions rather than an actual database relationship, and repeated runs reset the IDs. Check your import order and foreign-key mapping.

Will test-paid trigger my application’s paid status?

Only if you explicitly map it. Possible statuses are test-pending, test-paid and test-shipped, so an application expecting paid exactly may show an unknown state. Map them in a sandbox fixture adapter and keep payment, notification and fulfilment integrations mocked. Nothing here is evidence of a payment or shipment.
