Photo to Coloring Page: Turn Pictures into Line Art
Make a printable colouring page from a photo: the outlines are traced as black lines on white, with controls for how much detail to keep and how thick the lines are. Download the PNG and print it on A4 or Letter.
Photo to Coloring Page: Turn Pictures into Line Art: The photo is turned grey and slightly blurred, and edges are found where the brightness changes sharply. Only the strongest edges are kept, so lower detail gives simpler outlines; lone specks are removed, and the lines are thickened to make colouring easier. Edges are found where brightness changes sharply, and only the strongest are kept as black lines, with stray dots removed. Lower detail keeps the outlines simple for young children; thicker lines are easier to colour inside. Photos with a plain background and large shapes give the cleanest pages. Print at fit to page on A4 or Letter.
Detail and thickness
Detail is the share of pixels kept as lines: 5% gives bold outlines for young children, 20% keeps textures and small features for older ones. Thicker lines make it easier to stay inside the shapes with crayons.
Cleaner results
A busy background turns into scribbles. Cut the subject out first with the background remover, then make the colouring page from the cut-out on white.
