Gift Budget Planner
Plan holiday gifts within a budget: a row for each person with a gift idea, what you meant to spend, and what you spent, with totals, over-budget warnings, and a spreadsheet download.
Gift Budget Planner: The planner adds up the budgets and the spending, shows how much is left, and highlights anyone you have overspent on, as well as a plan that adds up to more than the total budget. The list stays in your browser between visits. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Keeping to a budget
A budget set per person before shopping is the one that holds: when the total is shared out first, each purchase can be checked against a single number instead of a vague sense of the whole. Leave some of the total unassigned for wrapping paper, cards, batteries, and postage, which are easy to forget and add up.
Rows turn red when spending passes that person's budget and green when the gift is bought, and the totals show both what is planned and what is spent, so it is clear early when the plan itself is over the limit.
Sharing and keeping the list
The list lives in this browser only, which keeps it away from curious eyes but also means it is not on your other devices. Download the CSV to keep a copy or to share the planning with someone, and open it in any spreadsheet.
For a group gift exchange, the Secret Santa generator draws names privately; to split a shared purchase, use the split bill calculator.
How to use it
- Set a total budget if you have one, and add the people you are buying for.
- Note a gift idea and a budget for each, then what you spent and whether it is bought.
- Watch the totals; download the list as a spreadsheet or print it.
Privacy & limitations
The list is stored only in this browser and never sent anywhere, so nobody else, including the people on it, can see it. Clearing the browser's site data deletes it.

Frequently asked questions
How do I set a gift budget?
Start from the total you can afford without borrowing, then share it out by person, leaving a little for wrapping, cards, and postage. Setting each person's amount before shopping makes it much easier to stop.
Is my list private?
Yes. It is saved in this browser on this device only. It does not sync to your phone or another computer; download the spreadsheet if you want a copy elsewhere.
Can I open the list in Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. Download it as CSV, which spreadsheets open directly, with the name, gift idea, budget, spending, and whether it is bought.
What do the colours mean?
A red row means you have spent more than that person's budget; a green row means the gift is bought.
