Advent Calendar Maker

Make a printable advent calendar: 24 or 25 numbered days, in order or mixed up, with a note, activity, or message for each day, ready to print and fill.

Advent Calendar Maker: The page lays out a sheet of numbered doors, with the last day drawn larger, and prints it by itself on one page. Notes appear in the doors; mixing up the numbers makes finding each day part of the fun. Runs 100% locally in your browser with zero server file uploads.

Write a note for each day

Print it, then fold a flap over each number or stick small envelopes on, and open one each day from 1 December. The notes are kept in this browser.

Making it into a calendar

Print on card for doors that stand up to being opened, or on paper glued to card. For flaps, cut squares of coloured paper slightly larger than the doors and glue each along its top edge; for treats, stick small envelopes or paper cups over the numbers. The last day is drawn larger, to save something special for it.

Print at 100% so the doors stay square, and turn on background graphics in the print dialog if the colours do not appear.

Ideas for the days

Activities make a calendar that costs little and fills December: baking, a walk to see the lights, a film night, making cards. The suggestions are a starting point; change any of them, or write a message for each day instead, such as a joke or a memory for each family member.

For a calendar of the whole year to pin up, use the printable calendar; to plan what the presents themselves will cost, the gift budget planner.

How to use it

  1. Choose 24 or 25 days, the colours, and whether to mix up the numbers.
  2. Write a note for each day, or fill the calendar with activity ideas and change any you like.
  3. Print it, then cover each number with a flap or a small envelope.

Frequently asked questions

When does advent start?

Advent calendars count the days from 1 December to Christmas Eve, the 24th, and some go on to the 25th. The church season of Advent itself begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas, which in 2026 is 29 November.

How do I make the doors open?

Print the calendar on card, or glue it to card, then glue a square of paper over each door along one edge to make a flap. Small envelopes or paper cups stuck over the numbers can hold a treat.

What can I put in an advent calendar?

Something small for each day: an activity to do together, a joke, a note, a sweet, or a tiny gift. Fill with activity ideas gives 24 or 25 suggestions to start from.

Why mix up the numbers?

Searching the calendar for each day's number is part of the fun for children. Turn it off for a calendar that runs in order, which is easier for younger ones.
