Gamepad Tester: Check Buttons, Sticks, Drift, and Vibration

Test an Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro, or other controller in your browser: see every button and trigger press, both sticks with their raw position and a dead zone to spot drift, and test vibration, with nothing to install.

Gamepad Tester: Check Buttons, Sticks, Drift, and Vibration: The browser's Gamepad API reports each button as pressed or not with a value from 0 to 1, and each stick as x and y from −1 to 1. The page reads them on every frame and draws them: the small dot shows the raw stick position and the large one the position after the dead zone you set, so drift shows as a dot that will not sit in the middle. Runs entirely in your browser

Connect a controller by USB or Bluetooth, then press any button: browsers only show a gamepad after it has been used on the page.

The page reads controllers through the browser's Gamepad API, so it works with Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro, and most generic controllers, without installing anything. Sticks show the raw position (small dot) and the position after the dead zone (large dot); a stick that never rests at the centre has drift. Triggers show how far they are pressed, from 0 to 1. Vibration works in Chromium-based browsers with supported controllers.

Dead zones

Games ignore stick movements inside a small circle around the centre, usually 5 to 15% of full travel, so a stick that does not return exactly to the middle does not move anything. Set the slider to your game's dead zone to see whether your drift would show.

Other inputs

To check a keyboard for stuck or dead keys, use the keyboard tester.

How to use it

  1. Connect the controller by USB or Bluetooth and press any button.
  2. Press every button and move both sticks in full circles.
  3. Watch for buttons that do not light, sticks that do not rest at the centre, and try vibration.

Privacy & limitations

Controller input is read in your browser and never sent anywhere.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my controller not show up?

Browsers reveal a gamepad only after a button is pressed while the page is open, to stop sites from fingerprinting devices. Press any button.

What is stick drift?

A worn stick that reports movement when you are not touching it, so your character or camera moves on its own. A small dead zone hides slight drift; large drift needs a repair.

Why are the button names wrong?

Controllers without the standard layout report buttons in their own order; the page then shows them by number.
