The Cornell method

Walter Pauk described the Cornell method in How to Study in College. Record notes, add cues or questions, recite from those cues, reflect and review. This adjustable sheet separates cues, notes and a summary without reproducing the original worksheet. The Cornell Learning Strategies Center (https://lsc.cornell.edu/how-to-study/taking-notes/cornell-note-taking-system/) explains the system.

Frequently asked questions

How do I print at the right size?

Select actual size or 100%, match the chosen paper, and turn off browser headers and footers. Do a plain-paper test before using card or label stock.

Does it download a PDF?

Yes. Download PDF creates a file directly in your browser. Standard PDF fonts cover a limited set of scripts; browser printing can preserve other lettering.

How should I use the three areas?

Use the main area for notes, the cue column for questions and keywords, and the bottom area for a brief summary. Use the cues to practise recalling the notes.
